Level 3 Business - Connor
Former School: Ravens Wood School
What led you to choose this course?
I previously completed GCSE Business and even started my own business to experiment with ways to grow it. I launched a clothing brand, initially working as a copywriter for social media, specialising in email campaigns, and later went into business with my sister and dad. I love learning about how the world works, as I see it as one large business, so I wanted to learn more and decided to choose it as a course.
What do you enjoy most about your course?
I really appreciate having coursework that I can work on from home rather than always being in an exam setting. It allows me to get stuck in and have a more creative approach, which really suits my learning style. I enjoy being able to interact with my course in a practical way, and having the flexibility to learn new ideas in more depth.
How are you finding the teaching/support?
I really enjoy Jahmar’s teaching style—it’s engaging, modern, and up to date. His approach makes learning interactive and relevant by connecting topics to real-world examples, which makes the lessons both practical and relatable. This keeps me interested and fully involved in the course.
Have you done any work experience during this course?
Last year, I completed work experience at the O2 store in Bromley, as my dad works for the company. I was really thrown in at the deep end, and initially, I wasn’t sure I could handle it—it was a bit of a shock. However, over time, I came to love the experience because it really boosted my confidence. I gained new skills there that I now apply in my current job.
Have you taken part in events/trips/competitions/exhibitions or had any speakers visit?
My Level 3 Business class visited both the Emirates Stadium and the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park. During the tours, we learned about the impact each venue has on its business and operations. I really enjoyed the experience, as it helped clarify my career preferences. The Park Theatre, with its welcoming, hospitality-driven atmosphere, really stood out to me, and I realised that’s the kind of environment I’d love to work in.
What are your future plans?
At the moment, I’m considering a few different options for the future. One is going to university to pursue a master’s degree in business. Another is applying for an apprenticeship in finance or accounting at companies like Amazon or Google, as I’ve heard they offer great opportunities. I’m also thinking about taking a gap year to focus on growing my own business, especially since I’ve really enjoyed building it from scratch.
Would you recommend JRC to a future student? If so, why?
I’d definitely recommend JRC and my course. The tutors are really great, and the workload is manageable. The course gives me a better understanding of the business world, which is exactly what I was looking for. It lets me learn different areas of business in a practical, engaging way, and I’ve gained some valuable insights that I can actually apply in real-life situations.
