Business Students Excel at Creating Visual Merchandising Displays

Business Students Excel at Creating Visual Merchandising Displays

Date: 01 April 2022

At the beginning of the January term, our Business Management Level 3 students were assigned with the task of creating their own visual merchandising display. Students were given a set deadline by tutor, Patrice McLean, but had the free rein to choose the type and the theme of the display.

Students had to plan out the location, the colour scheme, materials needed and the layout of the final display. A log of accomplishment was used to keep a record of the several stages and processes throughout the planning period.

“I learnt that planning is a very key feature when preparing for a visual merchandising display, you really need to think about your target audience” – Valiyana, Business Management Level 3 student

When choosing the location of their displays, students were quick to analyse where the target audience would be and how they could use the surrounding areas to support their displays. A good example would be Noel’s African Style Display which featured Nigerian clothing. Noel decided to place his display in the LRC as he incorporated books written by Nigerian authors.

Business Management tutor, Patrice was really pleased with the work our students produced and was proud of their dedication to the task, adding:

“I really have to commend the students for their dedication and hard work, all students had to improvise, and every display was to the highest of standards.”
