Summer 2021 BTEC Exams
Date: 22 January 2021
We have been notified by Pearson, the Awarding Body for BTEC qualifications, that a decision has now been taken by the Department of Education and the Regulator, Ofqual, to cancel the Summer 2021 BTEC exam series due to be held in May and June.
This will affect the following courses where exams are an integral part of the assessment process:
Level 2: Applied Science, Art, Business, Health & Social Care, ICT, Sport
Level 3: Applied Science, Business, Creative Media, Health & Social Care, Sport
The Department of Education and Ofqual have launched a consultation on how vocational and technical qualifications will be assessed and graded this year.
In addition the DfE and Ofqual also have another consultation running, but this relates to GCSE, AS and A level grading for summer 2021.
The views of students who were due to take exams, parents, carers, teachers, school and college leaders and any others who have an interest, including further and higher education providers, and employers are welcome to complete the DfE/Ofqual consultations.
Both consultations end on Friday 29 January 2021.

In light of this we will not have any further information until the consultations have been completed, reviewed and a final decision made.
We will publish any further information as and when it is issued.
