Student Union - Just Launched!
Date: 21 March 2022
The John Ruskin College Student Union is run for students, by students and represents the student voice within the College. To help increase awareness of their incredible work, we launched a NEW Student Union page!
What is the Student Union?
The Student Union (SU) serves as a channel of communication between the student body and the College Senior Leadership Team to help evolve the College experience for all. The SU also supports the local community through voluntary work and charitable causes they support. This means that students can participate in exciting activities like Sports Tournaments to help raise money!
Why should I check out the Student Union page?
Students can meet their Student Union Reps (2021/22), Student Union President, Elizabeth, a Health and Social Care Level 3 student, and Student Union Vice-President, Emily, a Health and Social Care Level 3 student. The SU Reps determine which student suggestions should be put forward when meeting the Senior Leadership Team and want to be at the forefront of making a difference. Both Elizabeth and Emily are friendly and hard-working and have made a great impact on College initiatives.
When visiting the Student Union page, students will also have access to useful student resources endorsed by the Student Union. Students can check out the:
Careers Hub – Filled with loads of resources to help you with figuring out your next steps including the Skills-o-meter Quiz or the Career-o-meter, which allows you to compare different occupations.
Wellbeing Hub – Students can find mental health and wellbeing support at their fingertips, with access to useful websites and videos, top tips and wellbeing apps.
Enrichment - The Student Reps work alongside our Enrichment & Wellbeing Officer to put together really fun activities throughout the academic year. Check out our Spring Activity Programme to see what’s taking place!
What else does the Student Union page offer?
All students at Joh Ruskin College have the opportunity to get involved in events, connect with us on social media, submit student ideas for College Initiatives and more!
Students can also keep up to date with the latest Student Union News including annual College events like Freshers Fair and the Careers Fair. Most recently our Student Union reps had a table with Enrichment at our February Open Event to promote all SU activities.
SU President Elizabeth also presented at our Welcome Talk alongside Principal (College Group), Lindsay Pamphilon, to talk about her journey at John Ruskin College.
