Letter to Parents and Carers
Date: 17 September 2020
Dear Parent/Carer
Following more stringent measures introduced by the Government to prevent the spread of Covid-19, I am writing to notify you of a change to our position with regard to face coverings and student use within College buildings.
From Monday 21 September, we will be requiring students to wear face coverings in social spaces.
At John Ruskin College these include:
- Reception and Client Services
- Lifts and lift lobbys
- Corridors and stairwells
- Canteen area (when not eating/drinking)
- Learning Resource Centre
In line with our current policy, students are required to take face coverings home for disposal or washing.
For a very few students, there will be medical reasons why wearing a face covering will be difficult, in which case they will be required to continue with social distancing. We will be speaking with these students to reassure them and provide a way in which their exemption from wearing a mask can be identified.
As we are able to socially distance students in classrooms, laboratories and workshops, the wearing of face masks remains optional.
Thank you for your support at this extraordinary time.
