JRC Student Fair

JRC Student Fair

Date: 28 November 2021

The next session of the JRC Student Fair kicked off this week with visitors including London South Bank University, University of Chichester, Off the Record, and Croydon Drop-In. This part of the Student Fair focused on providing our students with access to Higher Education options as well as services that support mental health and wellbeing.

The University of Chichester walked our students through the wide range of courses they offer from Business and Health & Social Care to Teaching and Fine Art. They gave our students great insights into life at university, accommodation and commuting options.

Similarly, London South Bank University discussed career aspirations and what our students are looking to achieve. They explained how they offer a person-centred approach to meet their students’ needs and career goals and help students with their growth.

Our Art & Design Level 3 student Brandon found the Higher Education stands useful saying:
“As I’m in the last year of my course, I wanted to find out my options for life after College. It was great to speak with the universities as now I have a better idea of what I might want to do in the future.”

The mental health and wellbeing part of the fair featured Off the Record, a youth counselling charity that focuses on the mental health of youth, and Croydon Drop-In, a service where young people can seek free support and counselling.

They spoke with our students about the services they offer, the importance of looking after your mental health and letting them know help is available, should they need it.

Our Student Union reps were also in attendance, providing our visitors with a warm welcome and collecting students’ suggestions for College developments.

Thank you to all the visitors who took time out to visit us this week.
