Art, Design & Media student featured in Aerostat Magazine
Date: 13 November 2024
A current Art & Design Practice Level 3 student from John Ruskin College has had work featured in the Aerostat Magazine.
Che Warren, who is currently completing their final year in the Art & Design Practice Level 3 course at College, had pieces of work he had created featured in the official journal of the British Balloon and Airships Club (BBAC). The November Edition was sent out to all members across the nation including pilots, crew and hot air balloon enthusiasts.
Che Warren’s feature in the BBAC Magazine
Che has always loved creating and decided to focus his creativity on hot air balloons, incorporating them within his pieces. When asked about why he decided to study at JRC, he commented: “I remember speaking to my mum about my options and how I wanted to explore the creative industry, my mum knew the Creative Arts tutor at John Ruskin College and told me to look at the courses available. From there I knew JRC was the place for me!”
Learning at College has been a great experience for Che: “I really like that the Creative Arts department has their own section within the College, we’re a sociable and close-knit group, and I like being with likeminded people. I also love we have the creative freedom to create work that can be impactful and make a statement – our tutor Tracy is always there to help us push the boundaries and to offer encouragement.”
Once Che completes his College course, he plans to study Advertising at University, he is currently choosing between Lincoln or Northampton.
When speaking to Che about his feature he said: “I feel really honoured, it feels weird knowing that someone I looked up to since a young age had an interest in my artwork and wanted to help me show it off. From drawing, painting and making short forms in my room to sharing my artistic journey with the ballooning community, it’s just unreal.”
Che is excited to continue his journey: “I have a real interest in Illustration so I can see myself doing something in that, but in the meantime, I plan to focus on completing my College course and then going to university. I just want to continue making artwork that’s impactful and leaves people with a feeling.”
Tracy Carrington, Art, Designs & Media Lecturer commented: “It’s quite an achievement. I was so proud to hear about Che’s feature in the Areostat magazine, its something he is passionate about and now his creative talent is being recognised beyond the walls of John Ruskin College. I cannot wait to see where his artistic flair takes him next!”
