College closure for festive break

The College is now closed until the 4 January. We would like to wish all our students and staff a happy and safe festive break.

Continue to test over the holidays

All students and staff should continue to test over the holidays in line with national guidance. This means you should test if you will be in a high-risk situation that day and before visiting people who are at higher risk of severe illness if they get COVID-19. The Government recommend all staff and eligible students take up the offer of a vaccination.

Covid-19 update for parents/carers, students and staff

Updated Government guidance is as follows:

From 14 December, adults, children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years and sixth months identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19, are strongly advised to take an LFT (Lateral Flow Test) every day for 7 days and to continue to attend college or school unless they have a positive test result.

For clarity, this applies to all adults and young people regardless of vaccinated status.  

Return to College in January 2022

We are aware that Government guidance around COVID-19 may change over the Christmas and New Year period.  This website will continue to be updated to reflect any changes.  

Our position for January 2022 return to learning is as follows:

All students and staff are asked to continue taking LFT over the festive holiday period to include taking an LFT a maximum of 24 hours before the return to College.  Students and staff are asked to continue to take an LFT twice a week on an ongoing basis.  If they have been identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19, then the guidance on daily testing stated above applies. 

Face coverings must be worn by all students, staff and visitors in ALL social spaces in College.  Lanyards must also be worn to ensure only those who should be on campus are on campus.

In exceptional cases, a student may have an exemption from wearing a face covering.  This means they have medical evidence and have logged this with their Curriculum Administrator who will agree with the Director of Learning or Head of Department that a purple lanyard can be issued.  The lanyard must be worn to avoid the student being repeatedly challenged for not wearing a face covering as this would be an uncomfortable situation for both student and staff.

Failure to wear a face covering will result in disciplinary action being undertaken.  This is because we need to keep all those who study and work in our College community safe while on campus.
